We're taking it back

Ancient tribes around 1400-1500 CE believed that a good nutrition based on whole ingredients could heal the body from the inside out. And guess what? They were right. Amaranth, beans, chia seeds, cacao, and heirloom corn are all densely packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, essential amino acids, and protein. Learn why we’re taking lessons from ancient civilizations and see why the earliest ‘superfoods’ are making a comeback.

Bean, the superfood

Beans are a crucial staple to many cultures outside the U.S, and should probably get a little more credit than being a “magical fruit”. Beans have a longstanding history as a key ingredient to the diets of early civilizations.

Once upon a bean...

Beans are one of the earliest cultivated crops recorded in history. It first originated in early Mesoamerica and eventually spread to Ecuador, Columbia, and then the Andes. Today, in the United States, most beans are grown in Michigan and North Dakota.

Rich in antioxidants & fiber

The many varieties of bean are categorized as Old World (fava) and New World–which includes varieties like pinto, black, and navy. Beans are not only a staple to many cultures and communities, but they are an important source of protein for many plant-based, vegan, or vegetarian diets. Beans are also low in fat and are known to lower cholesterol making them a healthy option for any time of day.
