A true San Diego icon, the Hotel Del Coronado always provides a festive display during the holidays.

Julian.
If you want to hop in the car for a little bit of a drive, Julian makes a great day trip with the relatives. It’s a perfect mountainside getaway with a cute town area that features dining and shopping. Including their famous pie. The most popular pie is undeniable apple, but you can choose from a variety of others to try or take home like peach apple crumb, rhubarb, pecan, and more.

Balboa Park.
Balboa always has something going on during the holiday season. Whether you visit a museum or two or walk through the lush gardens, you can always stop by Spreckles Theater which has ongoing organ concerts. For a lesser known local treasure, head to north county where the Rancho Penasquitos is. The neighborhood has a longstanding tradition of going all out with holiday decorations featuring giant Christmas card displays. It has lots of fun sights for the little ones.
